Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Limited (PPCBL) will be providing loans to the tune of Rs 2.70 billion to small farmers of the province though registered societies for the Rabi crop 2006.

According to the bank, small farmers could get this loaning facility till January 31, 2006. The loans will be issued to co-operative societies in the form of cash and returnable by June 30, 2006.

Giving zone wise allocation amounts, the PPCBL General Manager Raja Allah Baksh said on Thursday that Lahore zone would get Rs 550 million and Gujranwala Rs 300 million. He added that Rawalpindi would get Rs 55 million, Sargodha Rs 170 million, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur Rs 400 million each, Multan Rs 625 million and DG Khan zone will receive Rs 200 million.

He further said the bank had met the target set for issuance of loans for the Kharif Crop 2005, in pursuance of directives of the State Bank of Pakistan, "and we will continue the disbursement for the Rabi 2006 with the same spirit."
